Losar (Tibetan New Year) Cultural Tour:

 

Day 1 Arrival in Shangri-la and transfer to the guesthouse.

 

Day 2 Shangrila Tour of Songzanling Monastery and visit of the villages around.

 

Day 3 Drive from Shangrila to Dzongza. On the way you can visit Napa Lake, Nixi Pottery place, and have a special view of Yangtze River. We will drive most of the way along the Yangtze River.

 

Day 4 Drive from Dzongza to Bathang along the Yangtse Gorges. On the way, you will see beautiful Tibetan villages on the both sides of the road. While driving to Bathang, the altitude is getting lower (2300km). On the way we will visit Tsewa village where we can either walk or ride horses. Nightstay in a Tibetan home.

 

Days 5-7 Getting acquainted with the Losar activities (such as traditional dancing and horse racing) and tasting real Tibetan food. You can also join the family in preparing the meals. (Our Losar date is normally different from the Chinese Spring Festival, according to the Tibetan calendar.)

 

Day 8 Drive to Bathang town for 1 hour along the Yangze River all the way. We can visit Bathang Temple, the biggest temple in Bathang. We can also admire the mask dance if we meet the right time. Later we will take a hot bath in the Ridow Hot springs. We spend our night in Bathang.

 

Day 9 Drive back to Shangrila through Dzongza. We will arrive in Shangrila late in the afternoon.
